Immaterial Writing

Yves Klein and Dino Buzzati engaged in the
ritual transfer of immateriality, January 26, 1962

I figure I do some interesting things in NYC and I may as well record them in a more public setting than my private accounts and cut away the academic blah blah blah's...So the intention of this blog is art for the non-artists, the non-art writers, for my friends who want to know what is going on, what I like, what I'm reading about etc....this is no forum for academic discussion or deep philosophical thought.

to begin:

I began my VLA residency this week. I wasn't expecting to get it and I did, which once again proves it ain't over until it's over.A little more on the program here.
I was quite excited and am among fantastic company. I feel really honored and excited to get to hash out legal issues with my fellow art historians and artists. Working among smarter, more experienced people than you is ALWAYS a good thing.

I plan to publish on Tino Seghal's unique sales practices...reminds me of Yves Klein's Immaterial Sensibilites giving tangible value to the intangible, though I think there is more substance to Seghal's work. Seghal empties out the museum, sells a performance piece, Klein sells nothing to a dealer hoping to perhaps glean some of je ne sais quoi of the artist (which I believe is bunk!). It's all worth what you pay! I hope you caught Tino's show at the Guggenheim! I wonder how his people handled a clandestine iphone photograph of his work in the Times?
I went through about 6 times. More to come on this...
Tino Sehgal, "the Kiss"
