Cabinet

For those of you who aren't familiar, let me acquaint you with Cabinet magazine. You can get all the info you need on the Brooklyn-based arts journal at the link but let me say it's great and they have started to have some fun events at their space.
Alessandra Sanguinetti, The Black Cloud, 2000

Their current issue,
Friendship, features the work of photographer Alessandra Sanguinetti, whose work I loved instantly when we bought some of her photos during my time at the MFA, Boston. Part of her work has been to chronicle the lives of two cousins, from their childhood games into womanhood. This issue broke the news to me that the skinny little girl here is now a mother. It feels like only 5 years ago I was witnessing her first communion. Oh wait...

ANYWAY, there are some upcoming events at the Cabinet Space in Brooklyn and I thought I'd share this one, because if there is a conversation on art and (conceptual) value, I am there:

Panel Discussion and Opening: "An Ordinall of Alchimy,” by Mark Dion, Robert Williams, et al
Saturday, March 27 2010 6:00PM
Cabinet, 300 Nevins Street, Brooklyn
FREE. No RSVP necessary
6-7 pm: “Spinning Straw into Gold—Art, Value, and the Alchemical Collector,” a panel discussion

7-9 pm: Opening reception for "An Ordinall of Alchimy"

There are many more fun events at Cabinet and you can get an unbiased look on the calendar.
